05.051 TABU Bird's Eye Maple 0,6 mm veneer
The Erable (or Bird’s Eye Maple) is a precious, three-dimensional North American wood: the eyes are originated from a natural phenomenon, that is from the footprints left by the drops of frozen sap during the rigid winters.A seasonal phenomenon characterized by strong temperature changes, year after year.Eyes, like the other three-dimensional characteristics that make wood a precious material (burls, figured, pomelé), are a gift from Nature, that cannot be “built” by man. The dyeing of natural veneers enhances the tridimensionality, and turns the veneer into an iridescent and luminescent surface, like silk or velvet.

Since the product is made of wood, it is subject to variations in its moisture content depending on the environment in which it is transported, processed, and stored.
Resistance to light: Since TABU veneer is not a finished product, its resistance to light depends on the type of finish applied (chemical type and quantity). For this reason, it is advisable to carry out preventive tests with different types of finishes in order to optimize the performance of the product.
Mechanical characteristics: The mechanical properties of a dyed natural wood veneer are strongly dependent on the type of support used, the bonding method, the type, and the chemical nature of the varnishing cycle. For these reasons, it is advisable to carry out preventive tests considering the intended use, in order to optimize the product performance
Aesthetical characteristics: Natural wood veneers have a variability in structure due to the very nature of the original tree. The color may show tolerances when compared to a master sample. Furthermore, the final color of the finished product is influenced by the cycle and the chemical nature of the finishing products used.
